Stay linked with Tailscale
Why Tailscale is the preferred path for Crypto Chat, and how Wi‑Fi fits as a fallback.
Tailscale is how Sovereign keeps your iPhone linked to your brain at home and away. Same Wi‑Fi discovery still works — it is the fallback when Tailscale is off, not the main story.
Why Tailscale first
- One stable address (MagicDNS or Tailscale IP) whether you are on home Wi‑Fi or cellular
- Fewer drops when Wi‑Fi, NAT, or Bonjour change
- Crypto Chat still uses the same encrypted link to your Sovereign — not a Sovereign-readable cloud relay
Set it up once
- Install and sign in to Tailscale on the Sovereign brain and on your iPhone (same tailnet)
- On the Sovereign desktop, confirm the Home card shows a Tailscale (preferred) address
- Allow TCP 9119 on the Tailscale interface in the firewall (not only the trusted LAN zone)
- On iPhone, paste that address under Find my Sovereign → Enter address manually, then approve once
After that, Reconnect and auto-reconnect prefer Tailscale before trying Wi‑Fi.
What you should see
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Linked · Tailscale | Preferred healthy path (home or away) |
| Linked · Wi‑Fi | Local fallback — turn on Tailscale for a steadier link |
| Connection issue | Tap Reconnect; check Tailscale on both devices first |
Away from home
You do not need a new address if the phone already saved your Tailscale endpoint. Open the app, tap Reconnect, and wait for Linked · Tailscale.
If Tailscale is off on either side, the app may fall back to Wi‑Fi only when that path is available (usually at home).
Privacy
Messages stay on your private mesh between the iPhone and your Sovereign, encrypted end to end. Tailscale provides the path; it does not replace Crypto Chat encryption, and Centurion Limited does not terminate your chat through a company-readable relay.
